Although many people call this the "Theatre of Epidauros", it is not... It is the theatre of the Sanctuary of Asklepios in Epidauria. The actual "Theatre of Epidauros" is the much smaller theatre at the foot of the Akropolis of Archaia Epidauros. This error, published again and again, is only making it more difficult to explain the difference between the "polis" and the "hieron" in Epidauria. It even leads to such abominations as can be found in certain publications stating that the ruins around the "Theatre of Epidauros" (i.e. the Theatre of the Sanctuary!) are those of the city of Epidauros...
