Hellenistic Greek Redware Askos, 4th-3rd Century BC

With a zoomorphic appearance that looks almost like an octopus with the handles acting as tentacles.

The vessel is slipped with a deep red pigment, much of which remains. It also has some iron patina on its underside, giving us a clue to its use - this vessel was made to be placed in a tomb, perhaps alongside an iron sword that left its patina on the body.
